2 Ways To Get Rid Of The Ticks That Might Be In Your Yard

Ticks are more than just annoying pests that bother you and your pets. They can also carry illnesses that can affect you and your pets, including Lyme disease, which can cause you or your pets to have long-lasting health issues. If you have noticed that you have ticks around your house or are just worried that you might have them, even if you haven't seen them, you want to do everything you can to get rid of them.

Diatomaceous Earth

One thing that you can do is to use diatomaceous earth. This product is actually a really soft rock that has been crumbled and powdered. It has the consistency and feel of flour. Food-grade diatomaceous earth can be used to help control pests like ticks. It gets in under the carapace of the insects and will cause the insect to die. You can sprinkle it all around your yard, especially anywhere that you might have seen ticks at. Food-grade DE is also a product that you can safely use in your house and even on your pet. If you are going to use it in your house, you will want to pour some of it around your house and let it sit for a little while to affect any pests. Then you can vacuum it up. You might want to wear a dust mask while you are sprinkling it inside your house. It won't hurt you, but you can end up with powder in your nose and mouth.

Exterminator

If you don't want to try any DIY method, you can just go straight to the exterminator. They will be able to come out and identify places where ticks might like to live and hide. Then they can spray all around your house, focusing on the areas of trouble. The exterminator will also be able to give you suggestions as to what you can do to help prevent ticks from gaining another foothold. That can be things such as making sure that you don't keep your grass over a certain height, or cutting back bushes and shrubbery, especially near where you and your pets frequent.

You don't want to let ticks get a strong foothold at your house. You can pick up ticks just by walking around your yard, and carry them into your house where they can get on pets that don't even go outside. You want to make sure that you get rid of them as quickly and easily as you can.
